Shamanic Journerying

Shamanic journeying is the fundamental foundation to developing your skills and practice in this work.
A shamanic journey is an ancient technique, practised by indigenous cultures all over the world. By entering a Shamanic state of consciousness (SSC) a connection with spirit allies or guides is established helping us gain insights, healing and clarity that may aid our development and assist us in moving forward. We are always working for the highest good of all beings and in service to source, God or Great Spirit.
You will be taught how to create a safe container for the work: how to cleanse and prepare the practice area, prepare for journeying, intention setting and how to close the space.
We will explore the shamanic map of the upper, middle and lower worlds, finding the doorway or axis mundi, and working with the drum beat.
Over 5 weeks you will be introduced to journeying in a way that develops a relationship with your spirit allies, identifies your ways to receive spiritual guidance and methods that work to enhance your personal growth.
You will learn to work with metaphor and widen the inner vision to decipher sacred meaning and messages that support your purpose.
Shamanism has been practised for millennia across the globe and is a nature-based wisdom.. Many indigenous peoples used these methods for both practical and healing purposes, in service to the individual and the community.

Shamanic Healing (in-person)

Shamanic healing focuses on bringing harmony and wholeness back into ourselves and our lives by addressing any imbalances. This work involves working face to face in a 1-1 session and would be at The Hive in Penzance.
The healing work involves the practitioner becoming the hollow bone or empty vessel for healing spirit allies to move through them.
Shamanic healing may include soul retrieval, extraction work, journeying, curse unravelling or releasing of rigid belief systems, parts work and prayer. The drum, rattle, natural oils and tinctures, song and herbs may be used.

The work is in three parts
A space to share any presenting issues, present conditions, concerns, questions and expectations.
The healing work
Integration work that may include somatic practices, nature-based work, journeying and discussion. At times, the integration may include a short walk to a nearby woodland or the sea.
Shamanic healing can involve soul retrieval, extraction work, journeying, curses unravelling or rigid belief systems, parts work and prayer.
You are welcome to bring questions and intentions for this work and you will receive notes of the work after the session.

Remote healing is offered to those who can’t make the journey or live a further distance from Penzance. It may be more focused and directed to a specific question or enquiry you have about your life at this time.
An initial 30 minute online consultation will be done a few days before the work. A time and date is arranged for the healing work to be completed at The Hive by Maria whilst you are at home. You will be asked to be quiet and relaxed during this time.
After the work is complete we will arrange a time to discuss the work and any integration that is needed.

Maria has worked in a supervisory role for both therapeutic, ceremonial and shamanic work. If you want to discuss your practice, explore further training or avenues, practice journeying or other ceremonial work, this hour-long session can be either online or face to face at The Hive.
The work may include personal practice and process, working with clients or groups, the wider perspective and impact of your work and/or how this weaves into your sacred purpose.

Ceremony Integration/ Preparation Embodiment Sessions

Being called to participate in a ceremony can be a powerful and sometimes, unknown territory. Often it is an invitation to stand at the top of the mountain to recognise the path we are being invited to tread.
To truly benefit from our insights, intentions and experiences; clear, structured preparation and integration can prepare the soil and root-in all our learnings.
Maria uses somatic movement, breath, visualisation and sound techniques with psychotherapeutic methods and nervous system regulation to build a foundation that supports the flow, the individuality and unique flavour of your personal journey. This is creative exploration and you are welcome to bring any forms of expression that work for you.
Preparation work includes identifying current arising inner enquiries, mapping your path to acknowledge next steps and intentions for your ceremony. There is space to address any questions, concerns and gaps in your understanding for the coming work and a daily personalised practice to anchor your work into your everyday life.This practice can be carried through the ceremony and adjusted during the integration period.
Integration work involves exploring any loose ends, embodied processing to ensure a felt sense of any insights received during ceremony including in relation to your intentions. Working with grounding techniques and an ongoing daily practice to root any revelations or new awareness into your daily life.

Cellular memory and forgiveness process

Based on Brandon Bay’s “The Journey”
Maria uses a combination of psychotherapeutic techniques, somatic practices, shamanic healing and Brandon Bay’s Journey Work to access rigid beliefs, memories and patterns that are often held within the cellular structures and the fascia of our bodies. Many people come to this work through struggles with physical illness and repeated behaviours that they struggle to shift.
We begin with relaxation techniques to allow the body and mind to enter into an experience of safety and an ability to access supportive resources. From this gentle state, you are guided in a journey into the body to identify areas of disharmony and release old memories. We invite and move through a process of forgiveness and release any physical, emotional and psychic contractions that may be related to the contracted parts
We work with younger parts, future selves and our higher selves to create balance, healing and wholeness.
Grounding work will be done before we close the space.
There will be ongoing integration practices to be done in the weeks following.

Cacao Ceremony

Cacao is a sacred plant medicine used for 4000 years in Mesoamerica. Cacao was first used by the Olmec people and later the Mayans, Aztecs and many more.
It has been used in ritual, ceremony and gatherings and in recent years has become popular in the west for these purposes.
Cacao has many properties that enable easier access to what is known as a shamanic state of consciousness. Theobroma is a vasodilator, improving blood flow and increasing oxygen and nutrient levels to the tissues in the body. Anandamide (ananda meaning bliss in Sanskrit) is a neurotransmitter that activates particular receptors in the brain and can positively affect the transmission of dopamine, serotonin, (feel good hormones) GABA (calming) and glutamate.
When Cacao is used in a ceremonial way, we are acknowledging the spirit of the plant as having its own form of consciousness.

This group is to deepen our experience and knowledge of our spirit allies and how they can support our ongoing journey. We work both individually and as a group, Journeying for ourselves and each other.

If you have been a part of a two day ceremony with us you are invited to join this group.
We will spend time exploring themes, intentions and changes that have occurred in ourselves since the ceremony.
We will explore areas and ways of working that were revealed in the ceremonial space including voice, drum, rattle, movement and healing as well as themes, processes and being part of the collective hive mind to enable personal and collective growth.
